Roger Crandall Takes Over as MassMutual Chairman

Roger Crandall is now the chairman of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company as well as the company’s president and chief executive officer (CEO).

Crandall, a member of the board of the American Council of Life Insurers, Washington, took over from Stuart Reese as president and CEO Jan. 1, and he added the chairman title today, according to MassMutual, Springfield, Mass.

MassMutual named Crandall to be Reese’s successor in June 2009.

Crandall began to work for MassMutual in 1988, in the company’s investment management department.

Crandall has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Vermont and a master’s degree in business from the University of Pennsylvania. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst professional designation.
