Unum: More with Breast Cancer Return to Work

The return-to-work rate for U.S. workers with breast cancer increased to about 59% in 2007, from 29% in 2001.

Unum Group Corp., Chattanooga, Tenn. (NYSE:UNM), has published that figure in a report released in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The 59% return-to-work rate is for people collecting short-term disability (STD) insurance Unum because of breast cancer.

For people collecting long-term disability (LTD) insurance as a result of breast cancer, the return-to-work rate increased to 54%, from 47%.

At Unum, breast cancer accounts for about 20% of STD cancer claims and about 25% of LTD cancer claims.
