Personnel Changes: Hartford, Symetra, Transamerica, WellCare, LTCiTraining

Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., has hired James Eckerle to be executive vice president, strategic initiatives and enterprise technology.

Eckerle previously was executive vice president, strategic initiatives and enterprise technology, at Bank of America Corp., Charlotte, N.C. (NYSE:BAC), according to Hartford Financial, Hartford (NYSE:HIG).

Eckerle has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Florida Atlantic University.

In other personnel news:

- Symetra Life Insurance Company, a unit of Symetra Financial Corp., Bellevue, Wash. (NYSE:SYA), has hired Richard Moran to be vice president and national sales manager for the company’s retirement and life insurance products.

Moran previously managed a retirement income sales team at Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, Springfield, Mass.

Moran has a bachelor’s degree in economics at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Transamerica Capital Management, Denver, a unit of AEGON N.V., The Hague, Netherlands (NYSE:AEG), has named Dave Paulsen to be chief sales officer.

Paulsen previously was chief sales manager for annuities.

Transamerica Capital Management “will begin using a multi-channel approach to its mutual fund business, creating smaller territories and increased wholesaling support to distributors and advisors,” the company says.

Paulsen has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska and a master’s degree in business from Drake University.

- WellCare Health Plans Inc., Tampa, Fla. (NYSE:WCG), has promoted Walter Cooper to chief administrative officer.

Cooper has been a senior vice president and chief marketing officer at the company.

Marc Russo, who has been vice president of senior markets at Blue Shield of California, San Francisco, will become president of WellCare’s north division.

WellCare is eliminating the position of chief operating officer, and Rex Adams, the executive who has held that position, will be leaving the company, the company says.

- LTCiTraining.com L.L.C., Rabun Gap, Ga., has hired John Sherman to succeed Bill Pomakoy as vice president of sales and marketing.

Sherman previously worked in the long term care insurance benefits business at a unit of MetLife Inc., New York (NYSE:MET).
