The New Hampshire Insurance Department wants to hire a consultant to help it comply with a new state health insurance cost increase act.

The New Hampshire department has put out 3 requests for proposals (RFPs) in connection with the consulting services job.

The RFPs are for actuarial services, health policy services and project manager services.

Officials say in the introduction to the actuarial services RFP, for example, that the New Hampshire department needs help with evaluating its health rate approval process and developing proposals for improving that process.

The contractor that gets the job will help the department specify data requests, information technology and other strategies so that the department can better and understand carrier administrative loads and profitability and other factors that contribute to cost increases in insurance premiums, officials say.

Bids are due Nov. 19.
