Wells to Take Reins of Jackson

Prudential P.L.C. has named Mike Wells to be president and chief executive officer of its Jackson National Life Insurance Company unit.

Wells, who is vice chairman and chief operating officer of Jackson, Lansing Mich., will succeed Clark Manning, who will step down as CEO at the end of 2010, according to Prudential, London, which is not affiliated with Prudential Financial Inc., Newark, N.J.

Manning will serve as chairman of Prudential P.L.C.’s US operations until April 30, 2011, when he will enter into an advisory role until the end of 2011. Wells will join the Prudential board in January 2011.
