Barclays Wealth Adds Manager in Texas

Barclays Wealth said Wednesday that it hired Stephen Head as managing director and regional manager for its operations in Dallas and Houston, as well as for regional business.

Head reports to Steve Houston, head of wealth management, who moved to Barclays Wealth in October 2009 from Merrill Lynch. Barclays Wealth includes about 250 financial advisors and 14 offices in the Americas. It has some $230 billion in client assets worldwide.

Joining from Carlson Capital in Dallas, Head previously worked for UBS, First Boston and Smith Barney.

“As part of a significant global investment in our business and platform, we are rapidly growing in the U.S. Steve is the right person to drive the growth in the Texas area,” said Mitch Cox, head of Barclays Wealth-Americas and head of global research and investments for all of Barclays Wealth, in a statement.

“I am excited about contributing to the firm’s momentum and expanding our business in Texas region,” explained Head in a press release.

The group also hired Don Milich and Clifford Wang, both formerly of Morgan Stanley, to work in the firm’s Atlanta office several months ago.

Barclays acquired Lehman Brothers’ private investment management business in September 2008 and has been using the group as a foundation for building this business in United States and Latin America.
