The market closed slightly higher on Friday, September 10, ending the week in positive territory. The Dow was up 47 points, or 0.5%, closing at 10,462, while the S&P 500 was up 5 points, or 0.4%, closing at 1,109. The Nasdaq gained 6 points, or 0.3%, closing at 2,242.

Gainers outnumbered losers almost two to one on the New York Stock Exchange; volume continued low in the wake of the Rosh Hashanah holiday on Thursday; only 750 million shares traded hands.

In Europe, The FTSE 100 in Britain was up by 0.1%, while the DAX lost 0.1%; France’s CAC-40 also gained 0.1%.
