Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company, Horsham, Pa., has hired Timothy Thompson to be manager of the Dougherty Agency’s new office.
Thompson previously was general manager at Guardian Mutual, N.Y., and agency manager at MetLife, N.Y.
Thompson has a bachelor’s degree in political science and communications from the University of Montana.
Penn Mutual has also hired Christian P. Buzzanca, CLU, ChFC, to be manager of the Plamier-Ganley Agency’s new office and John J. Long to be sales manager of the DePaola-Chesney Agency.
Buzzanca previously was a general agent at National Life of Vermont, Montpelier, Vt. Long previously was sales manager at AXA Equitable, N.Y.
Buzzanca has a bachelor’s degree in business from St. Joseph’s College and in philosophy from the University of Steubenville.
Long has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and marketing from Rider University.

CIGNA Corp., Philadelphia, has named Thomas A. McCarthy to be acting chief financial officer. He is replacing Annmarie T. Hagan in that position.
McCarthy previously was vice president and treasurer at CIGNA.
He has a bachelor’s degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University.
Securian Financial Group Inc., St. Paul, Minn., has named Kathleen L. Pinkett vice president of human resources and corporate services. She succeeds Keith M. Campbell, who will retire October 1.
Pinkett previously was vice president for the procurement and facilities service departments.
