Making financial services employees more like prospective financial services buyers will be the focus of a 2-day seminar set to start Nov. 11 in Cancun, Mexico.
The American College, Bryn Mawr, Pa., is organizing the Summit on Diversity in Financial Services with help from a grant from Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company, Horsham, Pa.
The oldest of the 76 million members of Generation Y – the current and potential life insurance and annuity owners born from 1977 to 1994 – are already 33, and 40% of the members of Generation Y are either Hispanic or non-white. But the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has reported that only 9.3% of senior management positions in the financial services industry are held by African Americans, Hispanic Americans or Asian Americans.
The 80 human resources and field leaders who attend the diversity summit will get to hear the views of the experts and exchange ideas, summit organizers say.
