Van Mueller named 2010 Advisor of the Year

Senior Market Advisor magazine is proud to announce that Van Mueller has been selected as the 2010 Advisor of the Year. Mueller, based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was honored with the title during the opening session at this year’s 10th annual Senior Market Advisor Expo, being held Aug. 25 to 27 at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

SMA editor Daniel Williams says Mueller’s multidisciplinary approach and his reputation in the financial services made him a good choice.

“The deeper we got into the process of selecting the Advisor of the Year, the more Van Mueller’s talents as a producer, speaker, mentor and writer became apparent,” Williams says. “Whenever we mentioned Van’s name to people in the industry, we always got fantastic feedback … so we’re particularly proud to give him this honor.

Mueller has spent 37 years working in the insurance business, and has held Top of the Table status with the Million Dollar Round Table for more than a decade. He says he enjoys the ability to split his working life between being an advisor and a speaker.

“At my core, I’m an insurance and financial professional, but speaking and writing enhances what I do,” Mueller says. “I love it all, but if you asked me what I would do if I could only do one thing, I would do the advisor business. I just think I need to let people know that this is the greatest time in history to do what we do and offer the advice we do.”

More than 500 attendees and exhibitors are expected through the course of the Senior Market Advisor Expo. Mueller and his fellow Advisor of the Year finalists (Chris Abts, Josh Jalinski, Bill McLaughlin and Mike Suttle) will be featured during an advisor’s roundtable, held at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 26.
