The U.S. Labor Department is seeking candidates for 5 seats on the Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans.

The 15-member council, commonly referred to as the ERISA Advisory Council, gives the U.S. secretary of Labor advice about carrying out department functions under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

The council meets at least 4 times per year.

ERISA Advisory Council seats are opening up because the terms of 5 current council members will expire Nov. 14.

Candidates for the open seats should represent the insurance industry, the accounting profession, employers, employee organizations or the general public.

Recommendations are due Sept. 17.
