What kind of marketing tends to best attract your attention?

Gosh, I would have to say that marketing that is very educational might be of interest to me. I don’t want a hard sell or someone yelling at me, but if the marketing piece can really teach me something I would be potentially willing to listen.
Roger W., 69, Ames, Iowa

I don’t really like any marketing that I can think of. I hate to even turn on my computer and check my e-mail with all the nonsense that gets sent to you. I had an e-mail address that I liked and all my family and friends knew about it, then the spammers started coming through and I finally had to shut down my e-mail and get a new one. It’s really a shame because, like
I said, I really liked that old e-mail address.
Mary S., 58, Boulder, Colo.

I can tell you what I don’t like. I don’t like people calling me at all hours of the night. Those telemarketers. I got call waiting because of telemarketers. Ugh.
Hannah W., 61, Omaha, Neb.

It’s more who’s doing the marketing. I’m something of a gearhead and if I hear or see or read about a product that has to do with cars and can help me with the tinkering I do in the garage, then I’ll perk up. If it has to do with a product that isn’t about cars, I’m not tuning in.
Barry T., 64, Denver, Colo.
