Gordon Ito is now the insurance commissioner in Hawaii.
Gov. Linda Lingle, R, has appointed Ito to run the Hawaii State Insurance Division, which is part of the Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs.
Ito was supervising staff attorney in the division from 1993 to 2000. He became deputy chief insurance commissioner in 2000.
Ito has a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Hawaii and a law degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
