BC Partners and Silver Lake Partners have agreed to acquire MultiPlan Inc., a large provider network company.

MultiPlan, New York, was founded in 1980 and now manages a network that includes about 5,000 hospitals and hundreds of thousands of physicians. The company leases use of the network to insurers, self-insured employer health plans and other types of payers.

Carlyle Group, New York, acquired MultiPlan in 2006.

BC Partners, London, and Silver Lake, New York, are buying MultiPlan from Carlyle Group and Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe, New York.

BC Partners and Silver Lake are not saying how much they are paying for MultiPlan, but they say they are using a combination of their own equity and debt financing.

The debt financing was arranged by Credit Suisse A.G., Barclays Bank, and Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

BC Partners and Silver Lake have noted that will be equal equity partners in the transaction.
