Vicky Gregg will be succeeding Jay Gellert as chairman of America’s Health Insurance Plans.
Gregg, a nurse, is president of BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Inc., Chattanooga, Tenn.
In 2004, former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., appointed Gregg to the U.S. National Institutes of Health Commission on Systemic Interoperability, which promoted efforts to develop a nationwide electronic health records network.
AHIP, Washington, represents insurers that provide health coverage for about 200 million U.S. residents.
Gellert, the previous chairman of AHIP, is president of Health Net Inc., Woodland Hills, Calif. (NYSE:HNT).
