President Obama has named C. Robert Henrikson to serve on the President's Export Council.

Henrikson, chairman of MetLife Inc., New York (MET), also is chairman of the American Council of Life Insurers, Washington.

Henrikson notes in a statement about his appointment that service providers account for 80% of U.S. economic output and only 40% of U.S. exports.

"We believe that American companies, particularly those in the services sector, must be able to reach consumers who live beyond our borders," Henrikson says.
