AUL appoints Donald W. Barden as Southeast regional sales director

American United Life Insurance Company, a OneAmerica company, Indianapolis, has appointed of Donald W. Barden to the position of Southeast regional sales director in the Atlanta Retirement Services office.

With more than 22 years of experience in the retirement and employee benefit industry, Barden most recently served as the managing director of institutional sales for the Southeastern division of MassMutual where he ranked as the nation's top sales representative, averaging $500 million-plus per year in asset sales and recently more than $1 billion in new annual sales.

Before MassMutual, Barden gained valuable experience working for The Principal Financial Group and MetLife, focusing in the areas of pension management, profit sharing and defined benefit sales, distribution and carrier relations. Barden is widely recognized for his knowledge of institutional retirement plans, 401(k) and 403(b) design, international pension reform, employee benefits and more. Additionally, he is a leading lecturer on the topic of retirement plans, global economics and related subjects.

Reporting to AUL Vice President of National Sales and Service Distribution Mark Glavin, Barden will provide support to financial professionals in the Atlanta market who sell 401(k), 403(b) and 457 plans to their clients.

"Don is widely known and respected as a leader in our industry and his track record speaks for itself. Barden is a trained economist with an M.B.A. in Global Technology Management and International Business with an undergraduate B.B.A. in Economics and Finance from Kennesaw State University, and is currently completing his doctoral studies for a Ph.D. in Finance.
