Securian Financial Group is acquiring Ochs Inc., a benefits brokerage firm that caters mainly to public-sector employers.

Ochs Inc., St. Paul, Minn, will keep its brand and its status as an independent distributor, and it will represent multiple carriers, according to Securian, St. Paul.

Ochs has been marketing group life from Securian’s Minnesota Life Insurance Company unit. It also distributes disability, long term care, dental, and vision products.

Securian has good luck with large employers, and it is hoping Ochs will help it reach smaller employers, the company says.
