Prudential Financial Inc. has raised $1 billion by selling two batches of senior unsecured notes.

Prudential, Newark, N.J. (NYSE:PRU), issued $650 million in notes that pay 5.375% and are due in 2020 and $350 million in notes that pay 6.625% and are due in 2040.

The joint bookrunning managers are units of Citigroup Inc., New York (NYSE:C); JPMorgan Chase & Company, New York (NYSE: JPM); and Wells Fargo & Company, San Francisco (NYSE:WFC).
