Web Bits: American Well, TIAA-CREF, Lincoln

American Well Corp. is creating a Web-based health care delivery system for the biggest U.S. health insurer.

American Well, Boston, has a contract to set up an Online Care service for WellPoint Inc., Indianapolis (NYSE:WLP).

HealthNow New York Inc., Buffalo, N.Y., announced earlier this week that American Well is helping two of its units offer Online Care programs.

Patients can use the programs to communicate with doctors through secure chat, Web video or the telephone.

WellPoint will be creating an Online Care provider network that will include specialists as well as primary care providers, American Well says.

WellPoint hopes to make Web care available in some markets by the end of the year.

- Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association-College Retirement Equities Fund, New York, has added a Spanish-language retirement planning website at http://www.tiaa-cref.org/espanol

Content includes a glossary, answers to frequently asked questions, retirement savings tips, and information aimed at visitors in specific life stages, such as “Starting Out” and “In Retirement.”

TIAA-CREF also offers bilingual contact center consultants and Spanish-language financial-education seminars for Spanish-speaking employees of higher education and healthcare institutions.

- Lincoln National Corp., Radnor, Pa. (NYSE:LNC), has posted a financial education website at http://www.myconfidentfuture.com

The site discusses ways to use insurance to manage risk, income planning strategies, saving for retirement and planning for the unexpected.

Content includes videos on industry trends and issues, a Roth conversion calculator and other calculators, and surveys and worksheets.
