A life settlement index service says that life settlement provider activity was robust during May.
The Amrita Life Settlement Index jumped nearly 29% in May compared with the previous month, according to Amrita Financial Inc., Oceanside, Calif., the firm that maintains the index.
The index rose to 537 points from 418 points in April, and it has now posted two consecutive months of gains, Amrita says.
The index tracks buying activity among licensed life settlement providers. Participating providers reported increases in the number of cases received, the frequency in which offers were tendered and the amount of policies purchased, Amrita says.
