Aetna To Offer EyeMed Plan

A health insurer is rolling out a vision benefits program.

Aetna Inc., Hartford (NYSE:AET), has teamed with EyeMed Vision Care L.L.C., Mason, Ohio, to set up the Aetna Vision Preferred program, which offers eye exam and eyewear discounts from 38,000 in-network providers.

Employers can adjust the benefit levels and co-payment levels, and they can offer the program either on a stand-alone basis or together with other Aetna products.

Aetna is starting by marketing the program to larger employers. It plans to offer the program to smaller employers later in the year.
