Many health care facility executives who have a strong opinion about the new federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act think PPACA will hurt health care facilities.

AMN Healthcare Inc., San Diego, a health care facility staffing firm, is reporting that finding in a summary of results from an April 7 e-mail survey of 7,000 health care facilities.

Only 172 participants responded to the survey. AMN does not know how well they represent the views of all facility executives.

About 22% of the executives who replied said they were greatly or moderately pleased by passage of PPACA. And 72% said they were either somewhat concerned or very concerned.

Similarly, 63% of the facility executives said they believe PPACA will have a somewhat detrimental or very detrimental effect on the quality of care at their facilities. And just 23% predicted that PPACA will have a somewhat beneficial or very beneficial effect on the quality of care.
