An agent from Melbourne, FL asks…

Q: I was thinking about using an online vendor for leads. Their process for obtaining the leads is, the prospect goes online and requests to be contacted by an agent for Medicare health insurance. Then, that information is emailed to me, and I would call them to secure an appointment. Is this within the CMS guidelines?

A: This is within the CMS marketing guidelines. As long as the Medicare beneficiary initiates the contact and requests to be contacted by a broker, contacting the lead is allowed. Keep in mind that Part C and Part D products need a scope of appointment (SOA) form completed during the first contact. Medicare supplements do not require an SOA.
