Personnel Changes: New York Life, Principal, Others

New York Life Insurance Company has promoted Michael Gordon to be the senior vice president in charge of a new Agency-Life Operations organization.

The organization was created “to better align the company’s life product manufacturing with its career agency distribution,” according to New York Life.

Gordon previously was the first vice president in charge of market strategies in the Agency Department.

Gordon has a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Colgate University.

In other personnel news:

Principal Financial Group Inc., Des Moines, Iowa, has hired Warren May to be national vice president of individual life insurance sales.

May has been president of Lincoln Financial Distributors, a distribution unit of Lincoln National Corp., Radnor, Pa. (NYSE:LNC).

Nippon Life Insurance Company, Osaka, Japan, has named Toshihiro Nakashima president of Nippon Life Benefits, New York.

Nakashima succeeds Akira Hosoda, who will become general manager, entrusted investment division, in Nippon Life’s international business department.

Nakashima previously was general manager of the human resources development office at Nippon Life.

Nakashima has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Keio University.

Life Policy Group Inc., Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, a life settlements investment firm, has named Mark Engelhardt chief executive officer.

Engelhardt is the founder of LEAF Advisors L.L.C., Far Hills, N.J., a life settlements provider and consulting firm, according to the New York office of LPG.

Engelhardt has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Southern California.
