About 88% of health insurance agents are expecting the new Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act to drive up group health rates.
HSA Resources L.L.C., St. Cloud, Minn., says 92% of the agents it surveyed this week said PPACA would increase insurance premiums in the individual market.
In addition, 65% expect the role of the health insurance agent to decrease because of the new law, and 24% expect the role of the agent to decrease significantly.
About 19% expect the role of the agent to increase as a result of PPACA.
About 58% of the agents said they believe their overall sales will decrease.
About 87% of the agents surveyed said they oppose PPACA, 8% said they support it, and 5% said they are neutral.
