Several partnerships that have stakes in insurers have applied for permission to acquire voting shares issued by an Iowa bank holding company.

The investor group has asked the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas for permission to acquire voting shares issued by Opportunity Bancshares Inc., Bettendorf, Iowa, and to indirectly acquire voting shares of Opportunity Bank N.A., Richardson, Texas.

The group includes Capital Z Partners III GP Ltd., George Town, Cayman Islands; Capital Z Partners III GP L.P., George Town; Capital Z Partners Management L.L.C., Dover, Del.; Capital Z Partners III L.P., George Town; and Bradley Cooper and Robert Spass.

Capital Z Partners, New York, is a private equity firm that invests in financial services companies. Cooper and Spass are managing partners at the firm.

The firm has invested in companies such as Annuity and Life Re (Holdings) Ltd., Hamilton, Bermuda, and Universal American Corp., Rye Brook, N.Y. (NYSE:UAM).
