? Vanguard President and CEO F. William McNabb, III will succeed John J. Brennan as Chairman of the $1.3 trillion investment management company and the Vanguard funds, effective January 1, 2010. Brennan, 53, took over as CEO of Vanguard from the legendary John Bogle in 1996.

? Chris Biotti has been named to head Neuberger Berman’s Private Wealth Management efforts in its Boston office which advises high-net-worth families in the six-state New England region.

? Building the equity side of its shop, PIMCO has hired from Franklin Templeton Investments the money managers Anne Gudefin and Charles Lahr, who will be portfolio managers for global equities. Also, Neel Kashkari, who resigned in May from his post overseeing the Treasury Department’s TARP program, joins PIMCO as the firm’s head of new investment initiatives.

? Three sales professionals–Alan Dumas, John Leeson, and Chris Doucet–have joined Putnam Investments’ defined contribution team.

? Barclays Wealth has hired Richard Comeau, a veteran with more than 20 years of experience advising high-net-worth individuals, as an investment representative in the firm’s New York office.
