Regulators have developed the 2009 version of the form that multiple employer welfare arrangements must use to comply with federal reporting requirements.

The 2009 M-1 is about the same as the 2008 M-1, according to officials at the Employee Benefits Security Administration, an arm of the U.S. Labor Department.

MEWAs and some other entities that fill out the form, are supposed to file the 2009 form with the Labor Department by March 1, 2010. An extension until May 3, 2010, is available, officials say.

A copy of the 2009 Form M-1 is available here.
