SelectQuote Insurance Services Inc. is now offering life insurance quotes via mobile phone.
Consumers can text their age to the service from a cell phone or other mobile device and receive a free term life insurance quote via text within minutes, according to SelectQuote, San Francisco.
The service is available on all major mobile phone service providers, including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon.
The service typically quotes a short range of prices based on the average life insurance premiums paid by other consumers of the same age who bought term life insurance in the past year through SelectQuote, the company says.
The quote provided is generally based on a 10-year term life policy of $500,000 from one of a dozen of the nation’s leading insurers, SelectQuote adds. For 20 and 21 year olds, the range quoted is a $250,000 policy amount.
SelectQuote says it will promote the new service through an advertising campaign appearing online and on television.
