A broker that sets up high-end income protection programs is extending the range of program benefits.

Petersen International Underwriters Inc., Valencia, Calif., is introducing a disability insurance policy survivorship benefit that will pay the beneficiary or beneficiaries of a totally disabled insured a benefit equal to 3 times the basic policy monthly benefit.

If the beneficiaries are to collect the payment, the insured must be receiving benefits for total disability at the time of death, Petersen International says.

If an insured has no beneficiary on record, then the policy will pay the survivorship benefit to the insured’s estate, the firm says.
