Humana Expands Ancillary Products Reach

Humana Inc. says its HumanaOne individual health division will be selling individual dental and vision products in more states.

Humana, Louisville, Ky., (NYSE:HUM) acquired of CompBenefits Corp., Atlanta, an ancillary benefits insurer, in October 2007, and it recently began selling all of its ancillary products for individuals under the HumanaOne brand name.

The new HumanaOne Dental Preventive Plus plan, a dental preferred provider organization plan, is being written by HumanaDental Insurance Company and is now available in 30 states. Humana intends to sell the plan in 46 states.

The new HumanaOne Vision Care Plan, written by Humana Insurance Company, is now available in 16 states, and Humana wants to sell it in a total of 23 states.

Both the dental plan and the vision plan are available “regardless of a person’s health condition,” the company says.

The dental plan offers in-network overage for office visits, oral evaluations, and routine, emergency and periodontal examinations. The plan also covers cleanings, X-rays, sealants and fluoride treatments.

The vision plan offers annual eye exams and lenses for a low co-payment. The provider network includes ophthalmologists as well as optometrists.
