A U.K. insurer will be selling “American Depository Receipts” on the New York Stock Exchange.

Aviva P.L.C., London, which has a large life and annuity business in the United States, says its ADRs will start trading on the NYSE Oct. 20 under the symbol AV.

Aviva has completed the process of registering the ADRs with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the company says.

No new Aviva ordinary shares will be issued, and Aviva will keep its primary listing on the London Stock Exchange.

About 20% of the company’s shareholders are already in the United States, the company says.
