Personnel Changes: Guardian, Hartford, Etc.

Guardian Life Insurance Company of America says it has hired 13 regional vice presidents to support a unit to sells retirement products to small and midsize employers.

The new RVPs report to Dale Magner, vice president of retirement product sales, according to Guardian, New York.

In other personnel news:

Hartford Financial Services Inc., Hartford has promoted J. Michael Shamburger to national sales manager for corporate retirement programs in its retirement plans group.

Shamburger previously was divisional vice president of the southern division in 2006. He has a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Oklahoma.

Depository Trust & Clearing Corp., New York, has hired Andrew Gray to be managing director for core product strategy and management. He will oversee DTCC’s insurance and retirement services unit.

Gray previously was the chief operating officer of the Latin America and Canadian businesses at Merrill Lynch & Company Inc., New York.

Gray has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in government administration from the University of Pennsylvania.

Gray serves on the MIT Public Service Center leadership council.

Perr & Knight Inc., Pacific Palisades, Calif., has hired James Vallee to be a consulting actuary in its Fort Worth, Texas, office.

Perr & Knight has focused on property-casualty actuarial work. Now that Vallee is on staff, the firm hopes to help both p-c and life and health insurers develop, price and file accident and health products.

Vallee previously was the accident and health pricing and product development actuary at HealthMarkets Inc., North Richland Hills, Texas.

Valley has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Texas.
