? Charles Moran, JD, CFP, is the new chair-elect of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards’ Board. He will begin his duties on January 1, 2010, when Robert Glovsky begins his term as 2010 chair. Moran, who is director of the CFP Board-registered program and professor of business administration at the State University of New York-Cobleskill, will serve as the chair beginning the following January.

The CFP Board has also named Michele Wetherald as managing director of examinations, education, and talent.

? The Financial Planning Association (FPA) will celebrate the profession’s 40th anniversary at FPA Anaheim 2009, its annual conference to be held October 10-13 The History of Financial Planning, a book detailing the birth and evolution of the financial planning profession, will be available at the conference.

? The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) is continuing its 12-month program to educate consumers on a variety of financial topics through a free Consumer Webinar Series that provides an opportunity for consumers to learn about a wide range of financial issues from NAPFA advisors. The fee-only group’s Consumer Education Foundation (NCEF) also announced the renewal of its Your Money Bus tour, in association with Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, TD Ameritrade, and FiLife.com. The tour begins in Boston on October 1, reports NCEF Chairman Michael Joyce. The first Bus tour stopped in 70 cities.

? On August 28, Financial Services Institute Chairman Eric Schwartz, President & CEO Dale Brown, and General Counsel David Bellaire met with SEC Commissioner Elisse Walter to discuss reform of the financial services industry’s regulatory structure.
