Charles “Chuck” Akre has been in the securities business since 1968. He previously held positions as shareholder, director, CEO of the asset management division, and director of research at Washington, D.C.-based Johnston, Lemon & Co.
Akre established his firm, Akre Capital Management (ACM), in 1989 and for a time operated it as part of Friedman, Billings, Ramsey & Co. ACM became independent again in 2000 and established its current location in Middleburg, Virginia, in early 2002. Akre holds a BA in English Literature from American University in Washington, D.C.
