Most employers expect that health care reform would increase their health care costs if enacted and weaken their role in providing coverage to workers, according to a new poll by Watson Wyatt Worldwide.

The poll of 160 employers conducted in mid-September found 73% believe health care costs will rise if reform legislation is enacted. Watson Wyatt, Washington, also found 86% think health care proposals currently being considered would weaken the role employer-sponsored plans play in providing health care coverage.

The poll found that 10% of respondents would support an employer mandate, while 50% would support an individual mandate, 10% would support both, and 30% would not support either.
