Midland National Life Insurance Company was again included in Ward’s list of the 50 top-performing insurance companies. The past 18 months have been a volatile period for the insurance industry affecting companies in many different ways. Midland National has been included in the Ward’s Top 50 for 17 of the past 19 years (1191-2000; 2003-2009).
Annually, Ward Group analyzes the financial performance of more than 800 life-health insurance companies domiciled in the U.S. and identifies the top performers in each segment. This group is called the Ward’s 50 for the year. The Ward’s 50 life-health group of insurance companies produced a 13.5% return on average equity from 2004-2008 compared to 6.4% for the life-health industry overall. Midland National passed all safety and consistency screens and achieved superior performance over the five years analyzed. The company’s success in areas such as surplus, income, risk-based capital ratio and annual premium growth was also evaluated.
“This honor would not have been possible without the hard work and commitment of our valued field associates and employee shareholders. We are grateful for their continuing dedication,” said Midlan National President and COO Steve Palmitier.
