Laura Wander, labor relations specialist at CDPHP, recently became the new president of the Northeastern New York State Association of Health Underwriters (NENYAHU) at the conclusion of the National Association of Health Underwriter’s (NAHU) 79th Annual Convention in New York.

Wander was named labor relations specialist at CDPHP in 2008. Prior to this position, she served as director of sales and business development at APA Partners, Inc., the former TPA affiliate of CDPHP, and as director of sales, account service, and broker administration for CDPHP.

“In all of her health insurance-related positions, Laura has consistently demonstrated her ability to innovate and instigate positive changes for the industry,” stated Janet Trautwein, executive vice president and CEO of NAHU. “She has given selflessly of her time and talents to help others in the industry.

“Laura has a unique understanding of the industry and how it works, and has shared that knowledge with NAHU’s members and inspired them to become better at what they do,” added Trautwein. “Her zeal and speaking ability have inspired many agents and brokers to become industry leaders and active in all of NENYAHU’s activities. She is an individual who has truly given of herself for the benefit of other health insurance professionals and association members.”

Wander has more than 20 years of managed care and health insurance experience in the Capital Region. Her background demonstrates results-oriented sales and marketing management skills with a proven track record of consistently exceeding individual and team sales production goals. Her contributions include establishing and maintaining long-term customer relationships and retaining business in a highly competitive health care marketplace.

“I am excited to continue working with NAHU as I truly believe in the value that our organization provides to advance public knowledge for the need and benefits of financial protection offered by the insurance industry,” said Wander. “Because our chapter is in Albany, we are able to maintain close ties with the state government where decisions are made that affect our members and our industry.”

Wander has been a member of the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU) for four years, serving on the board of directors of the Northeastern New York State Association of Health Underwriters (NENYAHU) for three years as president-elect.

A native of Albany, N.Y., she lives in Glenmont with her family.
