The federal government has picked a private nonprofit group to help identify potential Medicaid overpayments.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has awarded a Medicaid Integrity Program task order to IPRO, Lake Success, N.Y.
IPRO will be responsible for performing CMS Region I, which includes Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont, and in CMS Region II, which includes New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
The first year of the contract has a value of $5.5 million.
CMS officials have the option to review the contract each year and renew it for up to 4 additional years.
