EmblemHealth Inc. is basing 3 new dental insurance products on a chassis developed by a predecessor company.

EmblemHealth, New York, was created by the merger of Group Health Inc. and HIP Health Plan of New York.

The company says its new dental plan programs are based on commercial preferred provider organization plans sold by GHI. GHI commercial PPO dental plan products have about 540,000 enrollees.

The new EmblemHealth programs based on the GHI products are:

-The Dental Access Program, which features 100% co-insurance for in-network insurance benefits for covered preventive and diagnostic dental care, as well as crown, bridge and denture repair.

- The Preferred Program which offers 100% co-insurance for network-insured benefits for covered preventive and diagnostic dental care, along with an annual benefits maximum rollover feature.

- The Preferred Plus Program, which offers traditional dental benefits with patient cost sharing and a larger provider network. That program also offers a maximum rollover feature.

Each plan is available to groups on a contributory or voluntary basis.

Groups for partly or wholly employer-paid plans can include as few as 2 eligible group members. Voluntary plans are available to groups with as few as 5 eligible members. EmblemHealth will provide “administrative services only” for self-insured groups with 250 or more eligible members.
