…The Treasury Department announced on July 8 the nine investment firms chosen to participate in the trimmed-down Legacy Securities Public-Private Investment Program (PPIP) designed to remove toxic securities from the banking system. The nine are AllianceBernstein; Angelo, Gordon & Co. and GE Capital Real Estate; BlackRock; Invesco; Marathon Asset Management; Oaktree Capital Management; RLJ Western Asset Management; The TCW Group; and Wellington Management Co. Absent from the group is PIMCO, one of the first firms to voice interest in the program
