Personnel Changes: Arison, Hancock, Others

Arison Insurance Services Inc., an insurance brokerage, has hired 3 executives and plans to hire 6 more employees in the next few months.

Arison, Louisville Ky., has named Kim Blinkhorn chief operating officer; Lisa Mattingly, director, large group; and Bill Mann, director, individual practice.

Assurance Investment Partners Inc., Louisville, a firm acquired by insurance executives and others, acquired Arison from a unit of WellPoint Inc., Indianapolis, in July 2008. The brokerage sells individual and group life, health, dental and disability products.

The company has 7 regional offices in Kentucky and southern Indiana.

- John Hancock Financial, Boston, a unit of Manulife Financial Corp., Toronto, has hired Craig Raymond to be chief risk officer and chief actuary.

Raymond previously was senior vice president, enterprise corporate development, at Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., Hartford.

Raymond has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries, and he was vice president of the SOA, Schaumburg, Ill., from 2000 to 2002, and again from 2006 to 2008.

- Transamerica Reinsurance, Charlotte, N.C., a unit of AEGON N.V., The Hague, Netherlands, has hired Michael Farley to be senior vice president and chief financial officer of U.S. business.

Farley previously worked for a unit of Conseco Inc., Carmel, Ind.

Farley has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from St. John’s University in Minnesota. He is a fellow of the SOA, and he holds the Certified Enterprise Risk Analyst professional designation.

- The retirement services division of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, Springfield, Mass., has named Daniel Darby and Francesca Messano to be managing directors for the field sales team.

Darby previously was a regional nonprofit market specialist in the division.

He will handle sales in Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.

Messano, who will handle Hawaii and southern California, previously was a senior vice president in the Hawaii and southern California retirement sales operations at Fidelity Investments.

- Affiliated Computer Services Inc., Dallas, has promoted Connie Harvey to group president of the business process solutions group. She will oversee the commercial healthcare, insurance and financial services lines of business.

Harvey previously was managing director of the healthcare payer and insurance delivery unit at Affiliated.

Harvey has a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Iowa State University.

- The New York office of Ernst & Young L.L.P. has hired Nicola Barrett to be a senior actuarial advisor in the insurance and actuarial advisory services unit.

She previously handled capital markets and derivative arrangements for companies such as Peachtree Settlement Funding L.L.C., Atlanta. She has a bachelor’s degree in decision sciences and a master’s degree in actuarial science from Georgia State University.
