Michael McRaith will continue to be the head of the Illinois agency that oversees the state’s insurance industry.

Illinois Gov. Patrick Quinn has named McRaith to be director of the newly independent Illinois Department of Insurance and Brent Adams to be the acting secretary of the financial regulation department.

Up until June 1, the department was a division of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

McRaith was the division’s director and has been acting secretary of the financial regulation department. He has a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and a law degree from Loyola University of Chicago.
