Iowa Goes Electronic

Hawkeye State insurers and producers had better let regulators know about any e-mail address changes.

The Iowa Insurance Division says in Bulletin 09-06 that it has stopped mailing producer license renewal notices through conventional mail.

The division is sending producer renewal notices to licensed producers at the producers’ last-known electronic mail addresses as those addresses appear in division records.

“It is the producer’s responsibility to maintain a current electronic address,” officials say in the bulletin. “If the IID address of record is no longer valid or if no email address was provided, no renewal notice will be transmitted.”

In addition, the Iowa division will no longer print or mail producer licenses. Producers must use the Web to print out their own licenses.

A copy of the bulletin is available here.
