How old is old? Examiner.com’s indispensable Paul Briand calls attention to a new Pew study that found for Baby Boomers age 50 to 64, it starts at 72. Briand then breaks the ages out further:

  • For 18 to 29 year olds, old age begins at 60;
  • For 30 to 49 year olds, old age begins at 69;
  • For 50 to 64 year olds, old age begins at 72;
  • For those 65 and older, old age begins at 74.

Pew found that perceived “markers” of old age include gray hair, grandchildren, retirement and no longer being sexually active (we’ll agree with that last one).
