Unum Group Corp. has hired Richard McKenney to be executive vice president and chief financial officer.

McKenney will succeed Robert Greving, who is retiring.

McKenney previously was executive vice president and chief financial officer at Sun Life Financial Inc., Toronto.

McKenney has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Tufts University.

In other personnel news:

- BCS Financial Corp., Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., a company that supplies insurance and reinsurance products to Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans, has hired Matthew Brannigan to be senior vice president of marketing.

Brannigan will succeed Robert Krueger, who is retiring.

Brannigan previously was president of Sakonnet Health Partners, East Greenwich, R.I. He also has been a senior vice president at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island, Providence, R.I.

Brannigan has a bachelor’s degree from Oswego University and a master’s degree in business from Fordham University.

- Connextions Inc., Orlando, Fla., a company that sells health insurance sales and administration systems, has hired James Gilbert to be senior vice president of product development.

Gilbert, who will be based in Boulder, Colo., previously was vice president of product marketing at Sand vine Inc., Waterloo, Ontario, a broadband network management firm.

Gilbert has a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and master’s degrees in finance and management from the University of Pennsylvania.
