Personnel Changes: N.Y. Life, Shoemaker, Others

New York Life Insurance Company has named Michael Scovel senior vice president of the West Central Zone.

Scovel succeds Steve Ray, who has retired, according to New York Life, New York.

The company’s West Central Zone includes 13 states from Louisiana to North Dakota.

Scovel previously was managing partner of the Illinois office.

Scovel has a bachelor’s degree from California state University at Fresno and a master’s degree in management from the American College. He holds the Chartered Life Underwriter professional designation.

In other personnel news:

- Shoemaker Financial Advisors, Germantown, Tenn., has made Thomas Jenkins the managing partner.

Jenkins has been general manager of the firm since 2004.

Jenkins is a registered representative of Securian Financial Services Inc., a unit of Minnesota Mutual Companies Inc., St. Paul, Minn.

- Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company, Horsham, Pa., says Susan Cooper is now a managing partner of the New York City Agency.

Paul Vignone will continue to be an agency managing partner, Penn Mutual says.

Cooper previously was executive vice president of the Northeast Division at AXA Advisors, a unit of a U.S. arm of AXA S.A., Paris.

Cooper has a bachelor’s degree from Keene State College. She holds the Certified Financial Planner and Chartered Life Underwriter professional designations, and she is a life member of the Million Dollar Round Table. She is member of the American College board of trustees.

- WellNet Healthcare, Bethesda, Md., has named Chris Kaiser sales executive for the Mid-Atlantic territory and Jay Thompson sales executive for the Northeast territory.

Kaiser previously was a sales executive at Vocus Inc., Lanham, Md., He has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Metropolitan State College of Denver.

Thompson was a research consultant at Corporate Executive Board Inc., Arlington, Va.

Thompson has bachelor’s degrees in finance and accounting from the University of Oklahoma and a master’s degree in international relations from the University of Denver.
