Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management says that 35 of Barron’s “Top 100 Women Financial Advisors” list are members of the firm (including advisors with Banc of America Investment Services).

Among the top 10 were Saly Glassman of Blue Bell, Pa.; Lorna Meyer of San Francisco; Melissa Harrison of Denver; and Debbie Jorgensen of San Francisco.

Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management now includes some 16,000 financial advisors and more than $1.1 trillion in client assets.

“Our firm’s impressive standing on the Barron’s Top 100 Women’s Financial Advisor’s List is a testament to the high standard of excellence and dedication to client focus that our financial advisors are committed to, and are known for throughout the industry,” says Lyle LaMothe, head of U.S. Wealth Management. “We congratulate all listed advisors for their work.”

The No. 6-ranked advisor Lorna Meyer was among five advisors featured in the article that accompanies the ranking. Her profile notes: “The real way to add value in times like this isn’t by coming to clients with some new idea for making some more money, but just by being in touch with them more frequently to tell them you are watching what is happening and watching their portfolio.”

The rankings for this annual list were compiled by R.J. Shook, author of the Winner’s Circle books on best practices in the industry. Shook bases rankings on the size of each advisor’s book of business, the level of revenue generated and the quality of service provided. He also examines regulatory records and internal documents and spoke with the advisors’ colleagues and supervisors.
