American Community Mutual Insurance Company has started selling the Community Flex product in South Carolina.

American Community, Livonia, Mich., already has been selling the preferred provider organization plan in 13 other states.

Community Flex PPO coverage can take effect in South Carolina starting July 1, American Community says.

American Community offers a choice of 3 different Flex plan designs, and it will guarantee rates for 24 months for consumers who agree to take a deductible of $5,000 or higher. For deductibles of $500 to $3,500, the premium rate is guaranteed for the first 12 months of coverage.

The plan offers access to the PHCS provider network.

The lifetime benefits maximum is $5 million per insured, and all options include an accident benefit and extra accidental death and dismemberment coverage.
